Victorian Teahouse Layout

There's a little place in Kamloops called the Victorian Teahouse. It's a very lofty name, considering it is an old house that used to be a funeral home...but it is just the cutest, most elegant little teahouse you've ever seen. If anything, the building adds to the flair of the decor. My best friends and I love to go and have tea, lunch, or if we're in a particularly classy mood, High Tea. Oh yes, lift those pinkies! The food is wonderful, affordable, and the decor is tastefully done, and of course, very Victorian.

This photo was taken in 2009, and we were treating Adie to a birthday lunch.

I played around with the paper a bit. I was thinking about those rag quilts and decided to try a rag edge. It's a bit 3D and kind of busy, but I still like it.

It seems everything I do involves Tim Holtz in some way. Here I've used the birdcage, the bird, and the flower stamp.

Here is one of my homemade butterflies as well. There are 3 on this page. As usual, there's some inking, some glimmer misting, and even a glimmer chip which is on the bottom right, and contains the title of this layout.

Well, that's it. I'm working on a video for the tri-fold card and hoping to get it done soon. Thanks for visiting! I adore your comments!!

Tri-Fold Mini Album

Hello Everyone!

Here is the Tri-Fold Mini Album I promised you. While I was gone, Amanda completed it...and it is beautiful! She turned it into a mini wedding album for her Grandma.

This is what it looks like closed. Note the cuttlebugged paper, the pearls, the inking, the ribbon and the flowers...not to mention the felted paper. Very lush!!

Here it is opened up. She used rub-ons for the lettering and on the photos.  Then below is a photo of the envelope she made to fit the album. I think her Grandma will love it!

Okay...that's it for today. Hope you enjoyed it. Thank you for visiting my little corner of the world!

Tri-Fold Cards

Hello Everyone!

Well, I've been holding off on this post until my sister received her birthday card. I heard from her yesterday, and so I am posting it today. These were actually very easy to do. I've seen them on several blogs, each with their own unique flair. The first one is my sister's birthday card.

It was fun to put my new Cuttlebug to work on some of the cardstock. All the flowers are Prima, and the cupcake is from the Inkadinkadoo Birthday set.

The second card is Amanda's. I love her take on it. You'd never know she's only been scrapbooking for just over a year. She is currently working on a tri-fold mini album which I hope she'll let me feature here when it's completed.

Also, I will be working on some layouts, so check back for those!

I'll end this post by saying  HAPPY BIRTHDAY ISOLDE!! Love ya!

Thanks for visiting my little corner of the world and please leave me a comment!
They make my day!

Stand up!

Hello Everyone,

I know, I know...such creative titles on my blog posts. It really is getting quite boring! Titles have never been my strong point...I just kind of say it like it is. Please love me anyway! =D

Here is a card I've been working on. Wait! It looks a little flat...

Let me try to remedy that....and stand it up!

(Just so you know, the green thing in the background on the left is a part of my Cuttlebug showing...it is not a part of the card.)

I have to admit, I really struggled with this one. I just didn't know how to decorate it once I'd done up the basic card. I wasn't going for any particular theme, which made it a bit difficult.

The base was made with embossed cardstock. I took the vintage photo distress ink pad and rubbed it over the base to show the embossing clearly.

The large insert in the center of the base has to slide up and down, so you cannot put anything bulky on it, except maybe the very top. The only other choices are rub-ons, stamps, pictures, etc. The smaller insert on the front had all kinds of possibilities once I'd decided what to do with the larger insert.

I chose a rose tree rub-on for the large insert, so I used a bird in a nest on the smaller insert.
Last summer while in Williams Lake, I visited Creative Accents and picked up some chipboard figures. One of them was the chipboard bird I used here. I covered it in various papers and added an altered prima flower to. The nest and butterfly are Tim Holtz stamps. Please double click on the photos for larger pictures.

As usual, I inked up the sides of all the inserts and the bird and flower. I love the depth it gives to most projects.

Well, that's it for today! Thanks for visiting my little corner of the world. If you feel inclined to leave a comment...you'd make my day!!

Until next time,

Do It Yourself: Glue Dots

Hello everyone!

Are you tired of paying so much for all those little items we have to have? We love scrapbooking, but honestly, it can get very expensive. So a little help can go a long way!

Here's a neat little DIY project that will save you tons of pennies. All you need is some old glue dot papers, and a bottle of Aleene's Tack it Over & Over.

These come out of the bottle white and dry clear. I did these up last night and they're just a little translucent, but not clear. They will get clearer with time.

The two white sheets at the bottom of the photo are the clear acetate with the glue dot paper on them to keep them fresh. You can use these over and over again. Just so you know, wax paper won't work...the glue dots will stick to it.

My friend brought me some paper backing leftover from their price stickers. These work great! They usually just throw that out. I feel so green!!

You can see in the photo above that the glue dots are quite clear now...it's been 4 days, but I packaged them after one day. Here is a close up below...they look whiter than they are because of the way the light is shining on them...but you can see the little bit of white dots in the centers waiting to turn clear.

I've used these and they are VERY tacky...so be sure you are placing something where you want it. They can also be stretched a bit, which can be nice depending on what you're glueing.

You can make thousands of glue dots for a fraction of the cost, plus you're doing your part for the environment by reusing the back of sticker tape and/or glue dot paper. It just doesn't get better than that! Have fun!!

Thanks for visiting my little corner of the world!

Spinner Cards

Hello Everyone,

As promised, here are some cards we made. I say "we," because my newest DIL made a couple of these. She has recently got into Scrapbooking, and what can I say...she's good at it. There wasn't a whole lot of talking between the two of us...but oh what fun we had!!

For Christmas I got a Cuttlebug. All the embossed paper in these cards were made with it. I just love it!!

So let's have a look at the cards:

The card below is one that Amanda made. I love the extra little touches she put on it. The flower was cut out of designer paper and layered. It looks really nice when you spin it. I also like the ribbon.

This next card was also made by Amanda. She embossed both the paper and the heart. Then she used embossing powder on the lettering in the slot...which we think may be why it doesn't spin as well as the others, but who cares when it looks this nice!!

This next card is one of the ones I made. I used a homemade acetate butterfly on this one. The paper is a CTMH package. I'm pretty sure it's still current. I really love these papers!

I couldn't leave you without showing you how the cards spin...so here's a quick video. Check below for some measurements and a supply list to make the cards.

Supply List:

One 6X6 inch piece of cardstock scored at 3". This is your basic card.
One 5 3/4 X 2 3/4 inch piece of white or neutral for border
One 5 1/2 X 2 1/2 inch piece of designer paper, and one neutral the same size for backing (for strength)
2 pennies
Pop dots and glue dots
Two sided tape
Stamp, flower, or whatever for spinner
Your template made with cardstock. (see below)

For tools you will need:

A 12" trimmer with a scoring blade
A Stampin' Up Word Window Punch

(If you'd like measurements for the green card, please email me) =D

Directions for the card:

Tape the 5 3/4 X 2 3/4 piece of white or neutral card stock to your card. (Later, when you've made your card top, don't forget to use the window in it to measure where to stamp your greeting onto this border piece.)

*Make up a template measuring 5 1/2 X 2 1/2 and mark at 1 1/4" down the length. Starting about 10/16" from each side, punch with the window word punch. First one side, then the other, then the middle. It may take several tries to get it even. Save and use this template for your cards.

Make your spinner using a stamp, a flower, or whatever you want. The spinner gets attached to your first penny with a glue dot. Put a pop dot on the other side of your first penny.

Attach your 5 1/2 X 2 1/2" designer paper to your neutral paper with double sided tape. Using your template, draw the window with pencil, then punch it out.

Now place your spinner over the window and turn the whole thing over. Your pop dot will be showing...remove the paper from the top of it and attach the second penny to it. Now shake the card back and forth to get the slider working.

Now place about 10 pop dots on the back side of it...around the outer borders so that it doesn't interfere with the spinner. Attach this to your card (remember to stamp your greeting on your border first , as mentioned above.)

You're done! Great job!

I hope this has been helpful. Have a nice day and thank you for visiting my little corner of the world!
