Country Christmas Table Decor

Hello there,

There’s quite a bit to unpack in this post. I loved my primitive digital stamps and decided to make some felt ginger prims out of some of them. Dried orange slices have always appealed to me, and then I found these primitive candy canes. Plus, you know I’ve made soap and salves in the past - - so now I am trying to make my own toxic-free cleaner.

Believe it or not, out of all that came my table top Christmas decor.

If you’d like the link to my Ginger Prims above, they were made from my digital stamps here. Just click on the image, and print from the new page. The Primitive Star Snowman is here

The orange slices were super easy to do. I don’t have any photos of the process because it’s so simple. Cut the ends off an orange, cut a bunch of quarter inch to half inch slices and put them on a cookie tray. I used foil under them, I believe. Turn your oven to 200 degrees Fahrenheit and turn them over every 45 min or so. I think they were in there for at least 3 hours. I just kept checking on them.

Just note that if you do leave them in the oven too long, or cut some too thin, as the slice in the back, they will turn a bit brown on you.

I’m happy with these though.

The candy cane idea was a Pinterest find. I picked up some plastic candy canes from the dollar store, took a bunch of leftover quilt batting and twisted it around the cane starting at the crook, hot glueing it here and there as I went along. The start and end are a bit tricky, but doable. Then I took a strip of fabric and twisted it around my fat little cane in much the same way. There are YouTube videos of the process here, and the chunky ones here

You may be wondering about the cleaner, as I mentioned above. We have a large spruce tree out back, so my husband cut some branches off for me. However, I was convinced I needed pine branches, so off he went into the woods to find pine trees and he came back with a bag of branches for me. Sweet, right?

In the end, the spruce branches had a better scent, imo, but I decided to do both. In addition I added orange peels to another mason jar as well. Once the jars were stuffed full of branches and orange peels, I added white vinegar. Also from the dollar store, since it’s just for a cleaner. Will it end up being too vinegary? Perhaps, but vinegar is a good cleaner and dissipates once dry. Plus I can add pine or orange essential oils if I decide the vinegar is overpowering. You do need to be aware of what you don’t want to use this cleaner for - - - like wood for instance, but it’ll make a great kitchen and bathroom cleaner.

Then came the fun part. Sprucing up the jars with different elements. The rusty bells and rusty stars I got off Temu. The strings were in my stash. Oh, and the little berry wreath on top of the large mason jar was a dollar store purchase. As was the berry wreath on the table.  Notice I added some fabric strips and some cinnamon sticks as well.

I may still add something on top of the lids, or I may leave them. I haven’t decided.

I love my little Ginger prim man and woman.

And of course my primitive star snowman.

Here it is in all its primitive country glory. I guess it’s fair to say I’ve been keeping busy. I love this little set up. It’s different and welcoming. All I need now are some primitive looking place settings.

Thanks for stopping by,

Carmen

Primitive Ginger Bowl Fillers

Hello there, 😃

Do you remember these from my digital stamp days?

I thought I would turn them into ornaments, or bowl fillers.

The first time I make most things, I always seem to do something wrong, but that’s part of the process. After sizing and printing these off, the second stage is cutting them out for a pattern and then (3) cutting them out of felt. The fourth stage is adding all the eyes and the yummy little extras. I decided not to use buttons on these because I didn’t have any small enough and these are my test patterns anyway (Maybe sometime in the future). Finally comes the stitching and lastly the stuffing.

These are intentionally lightly stuffed. I may keep future ones without the stuffing, I don’t know yet.  They’d be great as a garland with felt balls or round felt cookies in between them.

I showed these two to my husband, who said “their heads are a little small aren’t they?” Remember these are primitive gingers, not your typical gingerbread men.

Well, that was fun. Hope you enjoyed them.

Have a great day,
Blessings,

Check Out Krista's Note Cards and more!

Hello,

I hope this post finds you all doing well in spite of this self isolation we are all experiencing. I'm very much an introvert (who loves to visit and have coffee) and I don't mind this at all. I do like to get out for a bit, but then I'm good! Most of my DIL's are extroverts, but one in particular is very extroverted, and this is HARD for her! Ah well, this too shall pass!

Anyway, I received a delightful message from a blogging friend, Krista Peterson Hong from Krista's Paper Cafe, who used a few of my Digis to make note cards and she sent the link to me (as I've often requested you all to do when you use my digis) so that I could enjoy them too. I just feel so incredibly happy when people find a use for my digis and I was so pleased to hear from her. I love what she's done and wanted to share it with you too.

As I've mentioned in past posts, all the digital stamps on my blog are now completely free for download. There are all types of them, so please check them out.

Krista has been following me for ages, and I her - because her blog is awesome! There's a link below to the blog post where she's made the most adorable little cards. I love the fact that she took a Digi I made, broke it up and used it in a different way. What a great idea! It's one of those moments where you think, "why didn't I think of that?"

As a side note, if you check out my page headings above - the page called "Digital Stamps Info & Terms" explains exactly how to do what Krista did. Please do check it out, especially if you've shy'd away from trying digitals. They are so easy to use and you'll be glad you did! So many fun options!

Here is Krista's post: Birds and Sun. Spring Has Sprung!

Here are the digital stamps she used if you'd like to make your own. As you can see, she split these up into individual birds. Awesome!

She also used these which are a bit of a different style....but still fun. I'm a bit quirky at times and my digitals display that quality. No apologies.

Ok, it's time to go back into isolation! But before I do...check out these Easter images on my blog for a quick card, place card, or banner. Is it April already?

I should really do up a religious one.

Anyway, thanks for stopping by! Have a great week!
Blessings,
Carmen

Free Prim Chicks and Windmill Digi Stamps Today!

Good morning!

It's always good to wake up to another day, even if it is overcast and chilly! Has there been a lot of sickness in your area? It seems that everyone I know is sick or getting over something! It's been a terrible year for the flu, bronchitis, pneumonia, etc. It sounds like I will be taking my son into the clinic today. I took him to Emergency last week. My husband had to go in to Emerg. twice last week for other reasons. Yes, it's been busy and stressful!

It can only get better from here...right? :)

With Easter around the corner, I thought I'd share this little "Hatched Chicks" image with you again. It's an older image so I'm sure some of you missed it.

Plus, I have a new Windmill image too. It's pretty windy out there, so I thought it was appropriate.
Anyway...back to my life for another week or so.

I am working on an Easter post similar to my Christmas Sleigh Rides. So check back when you get a chance!

Blessings,
Carmen

Free Prim Punkin' Digi

Morning...

I've been working on some images lately and thought I'd share one of them here. Fall is definitely on its way in my corner of the woods. Here in Canada, Thanksgiving comes sooner than in America...so I'm sharing some cute little pumpkins.

It is always such a joy to see my work being put into a project. Debbie used this image to make a cute little ATC which she shares on her blog, Welcome to Debbie Reed's Blog. Click on the link to check out her blog! Thank you for sharing your talent, Debbie! :)

Enjoy!

Hi!

Thanksgiving is almost done, so Christmas will be upon us soon!

Last year I made a Prim Snowman that was one of my most popular posts ever. This year I decided to make another one in the same style. I think Prim is one of my favorite styles...Prim stands for primitive, in case some of you are wondering.

Good Morning!

Okay, I know it's afternoon, but it feels like morning to me. I've had some company - so I got up, made a nice breakfast, cleaned up, saw them off...and now I'm doing some of my morning routine.

It makes perfect sense in my mind.

=D

I thought I should do another free digi here today. I decided to go Prim again. I love that theme!

This one could be Christmas-y, or just country.

Kind of fun, don't you think?

Lately I've been concentrating a lot on my Facebook Page, updating it daily.

Faith, Family, Friends Digi Stamp

Hi there,

Well, here's my free digi for this week! I am stopping in quickly as I have been very busy! I have over 100 lbs. of soap to make up and my Ridgeview class is also coming up soon...I haven't even started on it!

I was in a store today that I think was called 'Wicks and Whimsy'. The whole store had a lot of Primitive type items - which I love! The place smelled so incredible too! All of it wonderful, but expensive! I did however find this little saying on a cloth, so I thought it would work for todays Digi stamp. The white stars were a short cut...they'll work fine on a white background.

It really is all about family, friends and faith!

It's hard to believe Mother's Day is two days away....and the same day there is yet another birthday for me!

I really have to stop having those!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Honey Bee Digital Stamp / Grilled Grandma

Hi there,

First of all I have some news today!

A while ago I received an email telling me I'd been nominated to be a Grilled Grandma! I thought it would be fun, so I answered a bunch of questions and submitted them. This morning Lisa put up my guest post as a 'Grilled Grandma" on her blog "Grandma's Briefs."  Aside from the Grilled Grandma posts, Grandma's Briefs has lots of interesting information and of course, some photos and stories of her grandkids as well. Do take a moment and look around!

If you'd like to see my guest post, click on the "I'm a Grilled Grandma" badge in my side bar or click HERE. What grandmother doesn't enjoy showing off her grandkids and talking about them? I hope you'll check it out and let me know you've stopped by in the comment section under my guest post!

Aaaaannnd...I made up some honey bees in a Prim tree for you.

Here's a few that got away....

Some extra hives...

UPDATE:

These images were used on a cute little card  made by Miranda at Scrappy Doo Where Are You?  I'm always enthralled when people use my digi's, and I think she did a wonderful job of them on this card, don't you think? Miranada has used other images of mine as well. I always love her work! Be sure and check out her blog at the link above!

Blessings,
Carmen

Prim Valentines and Sentiment Freebie

Hello!

It's 5:30 AM and I'm up! I'm not sure why, but I just can't sleep...I can yawn...in fact, I'm doing a lot of that, but sleep seems to be eluding me. Oh well...guess it's a good time to write up a post !

I sure like primitive images, and since there's still a couple of weeks before Valentines, I'm squeezing in a couple more Valentines images.

This is Betsy. Betsy likes Birdie. That's why she's wearing her heart on her....wool coat. Ooh boy...it's early! Here's another heart.

Here's a Free Sentiment as well...

Have a  nice week everyone! I think these are probably my last Valentines images. Scroll down the page to see more (or click on 'Valentines or 'Digital Stamps' in the sidebar under 'Labels). I have quite a few.

Have you used one of my images on your projects recently?

Wies, from Wies Crea Blog has used the heart image on a wedding card. I really love seeing what people do with these images. I especially love her use of color on this card and the paper she's chosen. It's really very lovely! I took a few minutes and looked over her blog (as I tend to do with most of the people who use my images) and found some really nice cards. Wies is Dutch, but her blog provides a translation to english. You really should check her out at the link I've provided!
I am also adding a frame my girlfriend made with this image. Adorable, non?
Here's another one from Krista, at Krista's Paper Cafe. She made a little party hat for the sheep! Cute eh? Plus, she's done some layering. Go check out the link to her blog and have a closer look! Great job Krista! :)
These Digi's are still available for 1.50 each. If you're interested in purchasing now, let me know. I will be setting up a page to purchase these from soon!

Blessings!
