Mini Purse Treat Holders

Happy Saturday! Gotta love the weekend!

My mother celebrated a milestone birthday this year on March 15th, so we are having a special dinner for her. My sister made table centerpieces, I made treat holders, and my brother brought the helium filled balloons. We're a small family since my parents immigrated here and left most of their family behind, so it will be a small party with family and friends. We bought a cake and are meeting at a special restaurant that she likes. Did I mention that it is a surprise? Today I thought I'd show you the treat holders I made along with instructions on how to make them yourself. The celebration is tonight.

First a photo of the completed favors:

For this project you will need:

3 1/2" of ribbon for each handle.
1 1/2" x 4" patterned cardstock (this can be cut at 2" x 4"). Both examples are in the photo above.
3/4" x 1 1/2 " black cardstock (or  3/4" x 2" depending on width you're using).
Ink.
Scor-tape or embellishment tape.
Piercing tool.
Small brads.

Score your patterned cardstock at 1", 1 3/4",  2 3/4" and 3 1/2".

Use a circle punch for the front flap, or cut moon shape by hand (1/2" end).

Ink all the edges of the patterned cardstock in a complementary ink.

Fold along the score lines and ink them as well.

Attach your piece of black cardstock on the wrong side of the flap with a piece of scor tape. Cut it about 1/8" out following the moon shape of the flap.

Take a length of your ribbon and attach one end on the inside of the top of the purse. Flip it around the outside and attach the other end to the other inside end of the top of the purse.

Using a piercing tool, hold the purse closed and pierce the center front of the flap right through the second layer to the inside. Attach a small brad to hold the purse closed. Ta Da!

Insert 2 chocolates in each purse.

Take one chocolate and eat it as a reward for all your hard work! Okay...maybe two. Yummm!
