Lace and Buttons and Yarn, Oh My!

I have a question....

Have any of you ever run out and bought a card for someone even though you have a ton of cardstock and paper in your stash?

Well, I have.

Then one day my husband made a little comment about it. He was right.

I get too busy doing other things and don't get the "fun" things done, like making a card. So I promised myself that I would make all the cards this year. I just about failed...just about....but I did it! The card needs to be at it's destination in 4 days and it just might make it! Lol...

So here it is. In fact, I totally used another card as my inspiration for making this one, even though it looks quite different.
I love the many uses for the "jar" stamp. Here's just one way to use it.

I used Brazilian embroidery thread instead of yarn or ribbon over the lace.

More embroidery thread over the lace on the jar and some buttons for inside.

I've been working on lots of crochet projects as well. Here's a couple of my latest projects.
Crocodile stitch booties. The pattern can be bought from Bonita Patterns

I love this little Owl Hat! This one is size 6 - 12 months. So cute!
Unfortunately the photo is a little overexposed.
Get the free pattern at Repeat Crafter Me.

Well, that's all I have to share today. I post almost daily on my Beyond the Fringe FB page and often on Pinterest, if you'd like to follow me there.

Blessings!

Catching Up, Cards, Soap and Crochet!

Hi there!

Today is the first day of Spring! I celebrated by walking around the park--and got pelted with little ice balls three quarters of the way around; got soaking wet and then had to put my jeans in the dryer as soon as I got home...even my socks were sopping wet! The good news? I walked around the park--and it's Spring! Lol.

I seldom get around to doing that as I love to stay at home and create. However, I've decided I need to get out more and take care of myself a little better. So I'm happy I did that and I actually enjoyed getting caught in a hail storm! It was fun and refreshing (well, except for the iceballs in the face part) especially since I was with my bestie!

Anyway, to get back to the creating part, here's what I've been up to lately:
It was my girlfriends birthday, so I made her this card. We went out for lunch to Sr. Froggy's, it's always good. Then we went out for our very wet and eventful walk! :)

Yesterday I got busy and made some soap. My sister is going to Holland and I promised my Aunt I would send some soap along with her. Here it is in the mold...I went a little overboard! Lol...
Here are the cut bars. It's scented with Mango and Champagne. I called it Mango Mountain.
I also made this loaf of soap:
Here it is all cut up...the picture is a bit washed out, but you get the idea. Tutti the Frutti.
And, last but not least, my last loaf was this Seabreeze one, more of a guy scent. This one is actually kind of special because I topped it with Ancient Canadian Glacier Sea Salt. So good for the skin!
Plus, I've been crocheting some more. These adorable baby booties are all 0-3 months.
Side view...
The Lion Booties are a "Two Girls Patterns" pattern from Etsy.
These little sweethearts are the Crocodile Booties. They are found at "Bonita's Patterns" on Etsy. Both these Etsy shops offer discounts if you buy more than one pattern. I'm not promoting them, just giving credit where credit is due.

Well, I'm going to watch American Idol tonight while I'm doing something else....it's good background noise. Plus, I might just take a nice hot soak in the tub with a bath bomb...seems like the thing to do after being caught in a storm!

Have a good week!
Blessings,
Carmen

Free Animal Balloons Digi

Mornin'

I woke up this morning to SNOW! We've been having +17 degree temps...so it was a surprise! It's supposed to get sunny this afternoon so it will likely melt away. Keeping my fingers and toes crossed!

To help things along a bit, I thought I'd make some balloon animals, just to send the message that

HEY, it's spring~
~enough with the snow already!
Lol...

I did the balloon strings and balloons separately. It'll mean some fussy cutting, but it's fun to have creative license. Print the plain balloons on designer paper or book paper...for something different.

I drew in the face of one of the bunnies, but the other animals are all yours to play with!

I have a couple of cards made, but I'll show you those later this week!

Wishing you sunshine and smiles!

Lovin' You! Free Digi Sentiment

Hey there! :)

How are you all doing out there in blogland? Around here temperatures are trying to heat up...but it's still pretty cold here some days! It'll be spring soon I hope! (fingers crossed)

So I've been keeping very busy. We recently closed our small audio visual business and are in the process of cleaning up the office space. In addition, I am also bringing up all my craft stuff from the basement and going through it all at the same time.

It's a little overwhelming because I'm all over the place with my crafting interest: scrapbooking, card making, soap making, jewelry making, sewing, crocheting, altered crafts, mixed media....all over the place!!

So what do I think about getting a new crafting area?
Happy Dance!!!

I'm happy because it'll be up in the main part of the house which will be much, much easier than running up and down the stairs all the time, not to mention that it's a larger and much brighter space. I can't wait.

I'm hoping things will be all in place by this weekend so I can make some cards for the upcoming March birthdays in my family. Not to mention some soap making! Yes, there will be soap! So stay tuned!

Anyway...

I have a little something for you today. :-)

I hope you can use them in your projects sometime!

Have a wonderful week!
